Profile

Position Overview:

We are hiring dependable and safety-focused Part-Time Bus Drivers to operate transit buses along assigned fixed routes in Visalia, California. You will provide reliable transportation, assist passengers, and maintain a high standard of passenger safety and customer care. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate transit buses in accordance with all local, state, and federal traffic regulations.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections and report any maintenance concerns.
  • Greet passengers, collect fares, and answer questions regarding routes, schedules, and transfers.
  • Assist individuals with special needs, including operating wheelchair lifts and properly securing mobility devices.
  • Maintain communication with dispatch using two-way radio equipment regarding traffic, detours, or schedule changes.
  • Complete daily logs, incident reports, and passenger counts accurately.
Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Age: Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Driving Record: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • K4 Record: Must bring or provide a current copy of your California DMV K4 driving record.
  • Commercial License: Must have a valid CDL Class A, B, or a valid CDL permit.
  • Endorsements: Passenger (P) endorsement preferred. If you do not currently hold a passenger endorsement, company support and assistance will be provided to help you obtain it.
  • Screenings: Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, and DOT physical examination.
Union and Scheduling:
  • Union Role: This is a union position governed by a collective bargaining agreement.
  • Shift Assignments: Work schedules and route shifts are assigned based on seniority. Flexibility to work assigned shifts across weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.
