Summary:
The Parts Clerk is responsible for overseeing the parts inventory for CARTA's fleet of public transit vehicles. This includes managing the procurement, storage, distribution, and inventory control of all parts and supplies necessary for the maintenance and repair of our fleet. The Parts Clerk ensures that the parts department operates efficiently and effectively to support the maintenance team in maintaining a high level of vehicle reliability and availability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintains accurate inventory records of all parts and supplies.
- Conducts regular inventory control measures to prevent overstocking and stockouts.
- Source and procure parts and supplies from approved vendors.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchases.
- Manage relationships and monitor supplier performance.
- Oversee the distribution of parts to maintenance staff as neeeded,
- Coordinate the logistics of incoming and outgoing shipments of parts.
- Ensure timely delivery of parts to support maintenance schedules.
- Develop and manage the parts department budget.
- Monitor expenditures and ensure cost control with the department.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to reduce expenses.
- Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards related to parts management,
- Implement and maintain safety protocols within the parts department.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
- Prepare and present reports on inventory levels, procurement activities, and budget performance.
- Provide regular updates to Maintenance Director on parts department operations.
- Utilize RTA Fleet Management software to manage and track parts inventory.
- Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance of the RTA system.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Must have a valid Driver's License.
- Proven experience in parts management, inventory control, and procurement, preferably in the transit or automotive industry.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management software including RTA, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations in a maintenance environment.
- Leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
Physical Demand:
- This role may require lifting and carrying parts and supplies up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to various weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods while at work to be available at the parts counter for shop needs.
Pay Rate: $29.93/hourly
Schedule: 8am-4pm
