Mission

The Transit Revenue Clerk is responsible for the accurate collection, counting, recording, and reconciliation of transit fare revenues. This position plays a key role in ensuring the integrity of financial transactions related to fare media, cash, and electronic payments across the transit system.

Profile

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, count and process fare revenues from buses and bus pass vending machines.
  • Operate automated counting and sorting machines for cash and coin.
  • Reconcile daily revenue collections and prepare deposit reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of fare media distribution and returns.
  • Assist in investigating discrepancies and reporting irregularities.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit procedures.
  • Support inventory management of fare media (e.g., tickets, passes).
  • Collaborate with transit operations and finance teams to resolve issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of financial data and assets.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in accounting or business preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience in cash handling, bookkeeping, or revenue collection.
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Ability to operate counting machines and basic office equipment.
  • Familiarity with transit fare systems and procedures is a plus.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software.
  • Ability to work early mornings (Monday-Friday), weekends, or holidays as needed.

Pay: $17.94 per hour
