Position Summary

The Farebox Clerk is responsible for handling, maintaining, and reconciling fare collection systems and related equipment to ensure accurate revenue tracking and smooth transit operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, count, and reconcile farebox revenue from transit vehicles.
• Maintain accurate logs of farebox transactions and prepare daily/weekly reports.
• Assist with troubleshooting and minor repairs of farebox equipment.
• Ensure compliance with company cash-handling and security procedures.
• Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams for farebox servicing schedules.
• Respond to operator inquiries regarding farebox issues.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in cash handling, accounting, or transit operations preferred.
• Basic knowledge of electronic farebox systems is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry.
• Ability to lift farebox components and work in a secure environment.
