In Winston-Salem, NC, we proudly operate Winston-Salem Transit Authority (WSTA) services, connecting communities and making daily travel safe and dependable. 

Profile

We are currently seeking a Lead Dispatcher to join our Winston-Salem team. This position plays a vital leadership role in ensuring efficient daily operations, smooth communication, and strong support for both our operators and customers. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Oversee daily dispatching activities to ensure safe and efficient transit operations. 

  • Assign, monitor, and adjust operator schedules to maintain on-time service. 

  • Serve as the first point of escalation for dispatcher and operator questions. 

  • Monitor radio communications and respond promptly to service disruptions, accidents, or emergencies. 

  • Support, coach, and guide a team of dispatchers to ensure policy and procedure compliance. 

  • Communicate with management regarding service performance, incidents, and staffing needs. 

  • Ensure accurate documentation of attendance, incidents, delays, and service interruptions. 

  • Assist in training and mentoring new dispatch staff. 

  • Provide excellent internal and external customer service by resolving issues professionally. 

Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred. 

  • 3+ years of experience in transit dispatching or related field. 

  • Previous supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred. 

  • Strong knowledge of dispatch systems, radios, and scheduling software. 

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. 

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
