About the Role
DC Streetcar is seeking a skilled Rail Streetcar Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and inspections on streetcar transit vehicles, electrical systems, and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electromechanical systems and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct safety and preventive maintenance inspections on streetcars and related equipment.
- Diagnose, repair, and overhaul electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
- Perform testing and maintenance of communication and security systems.
- Operate shop equipment, hand tools, and testing instruments.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Work with microprocessor control systems and calibrate testing equipment.
- Support emergency response efforts, including re-railing operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean work environment.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Electronics Technician Certificate preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a related electromechanical field or journey-level experience.
- Licenses: Valid driver’s license from DC, Maryland, or Virginia.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of AC/DC systems, electronic control circuits, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools, fabrication equipment, and electronic testing systems.
- Other Requirements:
- Must supply and maintain personal toolbox on-site (list provided).
- Willingness to cross-train in Signals, Communications, Overhead Contact System, Traction Power, and Track.
- Ability to work from elevated structures and in varied environmental conditions.
- Subject to pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing per FTA regulations.
