Position Overview

RATP Dev USA is seeking an Operations Specialist to support daily transit operations at Visalia Transit. This position plays an important role in coordinating service, supporting operators and supervisors, monitoring daily operations, and helping ensure that transit services are delivered safely, efficiently, and according to company and client standards.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, customer-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced transportation environment. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively to operational issues as they arise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the daily operations of Visalia Transit services.
  • Monitor service performance and assist with maintaining on-time and reliable service.
  • Provide operational support to Bus Operators, Dispatchers, Supervisors, and management.
  • Assist with coordinating operator assignments, schedules, routes, and service changes.
  • Monitor vehicle and operator activity and communicate operational issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with responding to service disruptions, delays, accidents, incidents, and customer concerns.
  • Maintain accurate daily operations records, reports, logs, and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with operators and management regarding service needs and operational concerns.
  • Assist with addressing passenger and customer service issues professionally and promptly.
  • Support compliance with company policies, client requirements, safety procedures, and applicable transportation regulations.
  • Assist with reviewing and documenting operational incidents and follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate with maintenance regarding vehicle availability and operational needs.
  • Assist management with special events, service changes, detours, and other operational projects.
  • Monitor radio and other communication systems as assigned.
  • Help ensure operators have the information and resources necessary to provide safe and reliable service.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company, employee, and customer information.
  • Count fare money and prepare daily deposits while maintaining accurate records and accountability of all fare revenue
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Operations Management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in public transportation, transit operations, dispatch, logistics, transportation, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond effectively to changing operational needs.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, email, Microsoft Office, and other business systems.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees, management, customers, and the public.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous transit or paratransit operations experience.
  • Experience with dispatching or transportation scheduling.
  • Knowledge of transit operations, routes, schedules, and service delivery.
  • Experience using radio communication systems and transportation software.
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience.
  • Familiarity with DOT and transit safety requirements.

Schedule & Availability

This position may require flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime based on operational needs.

Public transportation operates around the clock, and successful candidates must be willing to work the schedule required to support reliable service.
