The Light-Duty Maintenance Mechanic performs basic repair work on fleet vehicles to provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation service to the public for the City of Edmond. The Light-Duty Maintenance Mechanic provides vital information pertaining to the maintenance department to the Director of Maintenance to ensure a clean and safe working environment. The Light-Duty Maintenance Mechanic follows direct orders for basic repairs (i.e. changing tires, headlights, lights, etc.) and maintenance of the vehicles, the facility, and the yard. The Light-Duty Maintenance Mechanic works with the Director of Maintenance to ensure the department is following the regulations set for by the Federal Transit Association (FTA) and the City of Edmond.
Perfil
· Record and report vehicle mileage and repairs to the Director of Maintenance to ensure every vehicle is safe for operation.
· Complete light repair work and record repairs per the Maintenance Plan.
· Diagnosis and repair issues with vehicles, facility, and yard maintenance.
· Inspect and clean buses daily for issues pertaining to continued safe operation.
· Inspect the facility and yard daily for issues pertaining to the safety and appearance of ETM.
· Notify the Director of Maintenance of any issues pertaining to the safe, reliable and efficient operation of ETM.
· Responsible for submitting parts request forms to ensure the parts are ordered as they are needed. Also submit parts request to aid the Director of Maintenance to keep the inventory stocked.
· Responsible for carrying the shop dispatch phone, receiving calls from operators, and ensure that vehicles are safe for operation.
· Report road calls in the logbook.
· Provide direct response to vehicle accidents to aid in the continued operation or removal of a vehicle from service.
· Responds to radio calls in a professional and helpful manner, ensuring that actions taken are quick and effective in handling the variety of situations that occur on a routine basis, including emergency situations and other spontaneous incidents.
· Provide operators with clear and direct instructions on how to proceed in the event of vehicle issues.
· Communicate with other departments to ensure the provision of seamless public transportation services to the community, to include coordination with Maintenance, Paratransit, and Fixed Route bus service.
· Ensure that vehicles are safe and available for next-day operation.
· Provide the operation department with vehicle assignment, informing of which vehicles are available for service.
· Responsible for making on-the-spot analysis and decisions within the realm of authority and company policy.
· Respond to road calls in a timely manner.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Knowledge of federal, state, and local traffic rules and regulations.
· Skill in operating personal computers and software applications including Excel and Word.
· Skill in identifying patterns, trends, and drawing conclusions.
· Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
· Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
· Ability to work varied shifts.
· Ample knowledge of vehicles, facility and yard maintenance.
· Ability for follow simple and complicated instructions.
· Ability to seek, investigate, and perform work necessary to the daily operation of the Maintenance Department.
· Mechanical skills for light repairs such as changing tires, headlights, lights, changing oil, etc.
Hourly rate will be based on experience level
