We're not just about transit but about transforming lives through quality transit services. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Parts Manager to oversee inventory operations and support our maintenance team in delivering safe and efficient transit services.

Perfil

Position Overview

The Parts Manager is responsible for managing the inventory for the Prince Georges County, TheBus fleet. This role oversees the procurement, storage, distribution, and control of parts and supplies required for vehicle maintenance and repair. The Parts Manager ensures efficient operations to maintain a high level of fleet reliability and availability.

Compensation: $68,000 annually

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate records of all parts and supplies.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Implement inventory control measures to prevent overstocking and stockouts.

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Source and purchase parts from approved vendors.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
  • Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong vendor relationships.

Distribution & Logistics

  • Oversee distribution of parts to maintenance staff.
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Ensure timely availability of parts to support maintenance schedules.

Budget & Cost Control

  • Develop and manage the department budget.
  • Monitor expenditures and implement cost-saving strategies.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and support parts department staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide training opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative, efficient work environment.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
  • Implement and maintain safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.

Reporting

  • Prepare reports on inventory levels, procurement activity, and budget performance.
  • Provide regular updates to the Maintenance Director.

Software Management

  • Utilize RTA Fleet Management software for inventory tracking.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and system maintenance.
  • Train staff on effective use of the system.

Other Duties as assigned 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and 2+ years of progressively responsible parts, inventory, or fleet support experience
